Seven Day Weekend

There’s an overblown and overhyped sporting event this weekend, but this time, it matters a lot to me, because I saw this play as it happened, and I’ve remained a Jints fan through thin and thick. And after some truly appalling losses this season, it’s all pretty exciting.

Other notes for the week:

This is less and obit and more a remembrance of Gustav Leonhart, and a lovely one.

When there’s music writing in the New York Review, that means Luc Sante on Patti Smith and Charles Rosen on Elliott Carter (subscription required for that link).

You can hear new music from the Dolce Suono ensemble at Symphony Space on Monday.

Tuesday is the first day of a new series of Pop-Up Concerts at Miller Theater; free late afternoon events … with beer! At 6pm, JACK Quartet and Laura Radnofsky of Signal will play Scelsi, Xenakis and Sciarinno. I can’t make it, so let me know how it is.
