There’s a bit more of it on the site here (tech­ni­cal issues mas­tered, for now), and in the Jazz­i­verse, where the top album in the 60th annual down­beat mag­a­zine crit­ics poll has Vijay Iyer as artist of the year and owner of the top album, his excel­lent Accelerando. Vot­ing was ranked and that was one of my picks, regard­less it’s totally deserv­ing. If you agree with the view that Iyer is an avant-gardist (I do not), this might be shock­ing. To me, it con­firms the strength of jazz music of the times and in the moment.
