I want to direct you attention to a blog I’ve just added to the roll, Scott Healy’s Professorscosco. He drew my attention to it via direct feedback on my “Orchestra of Jazz Composers” post. Scott is exploring just that idea, how to be a composer in the world of jazz, what it means technically, philosophically and aesthetically, and his blog is a place where you can follow his experiments and see him thinking things through. It’s clear, interesting and worth your while.

I'm a composer and musician, and I write about music—I do that here, for the New York Classical Review, at the Brooklyn Rail (I edit the music section there) and any place else that will have me, like New Music Box and Music & Literature. I also wrote the Miles Davis' Bitches Brew book in the 33 1/3 series.
