Miles and Miles and Miles

Of late I’ve had the great honor and pleasure of being able to talk about his legacy, and Bitches Brew.

He’s my thing, you know.

Of late I’ve had the great honor and pleasure of being able to talk about his legacy, and Bitches Brew. In February, I gave a lecture about the album at Jazz St. Louis for their Whitaker Jazz Speaks series, Bitches Brew at 50—you can check it out at the video below (starts about the 11 minute mark), and keep it tuned there for a great set from a tight band of St. Louis area musicians, playing “Pharaoh’s Dance” and “Bitches Brew.”

Earlier in March I was interviewed by Andy Bothwell for the Consequence of Sound Opus podcast. They’re doing a multi-part feature on Bitches Brew, the first episode is up, and you might be able to hear my yammering on each episode. Lucky you!

Through March 24, you can stream for free the Miles Davis: Birth of the Cool documentary at PBS. It’s very cool.

And if you haven’t, buy my book and read it, you dig?
